What Christ Church Preschool Is All About . . .

Established in 1970 to provide care and guidance as a traditional preschool, Christ Church Preschool is a place where three, four and five year old children learn as they play and share experiences with their peers. The young child learns to interact with his friends, to work at his own problem solving techniques, with teacher guidance, and to make choices and decisions within the structure provided.

Our day includes free-choice activities, as well as teacher-directed ones. It includes active and quiet times. Each day is carefully planned to include large and small muscle activities, creative, social and cognitive experiences, indoor and outdoor activities, a time for listening and conversation, snack and music. We provide a positive and stimulating environment for each child to grow and develop physically, socially, emotionally and intellectually at his own rate as an individual.

Our two session per week three-year-old program has its own classroom and curriculum, concentrating on such areas as parent child separation, self-esteem, self-help skills, motor skills and readiness. Our three sessions per week four-year-old program builds upon and expands that curriculum to prepare the children to enter kindergarten with confidence and an eagerness for academic success. We achieve these goals through the use of patient guidance, opportunities for self-exploration and fun!

Our cheerful classrooms and large outdoor play area are thoroughly utilized during each school session to allow children sufficient time to interact with one another and their teachers.

A volunteer board consisting of parents and teachers runs the school. In addition, we encourage family participation through such activities as Parent Orientation Night, parent-teacher conferences, holiday parties, Dinosaur Museum (4-year-olds), Food Fest (3-year-olds), Mother's Day Brunches, Recognition Day, and various field trips and visitors throughout the school year.

Christ Church Preschool is state licensed, non-profit and non-sectarian. Our trained staff has many years experience working exclusively with young children and we are members of both the Connecticut and National Association for the Education of Young Children.
